Shoes: the most important choice of the day
You play in the forest on uneven terrain — roots, branches, mud, slippery leaves. You will run, kneel and turn. Wrong shoes = a twisted ankle or slipping all day.
✓ Bring
- Ankle trekking boots
- Hiking boots with a coarse sole
- Sturdy work boots
- Older quality sneakers with tread (backup)
✕ Leave at home
- Barefoot shoes — no place in the forest, zero ankle or sole protection
- Sandals, flip-flops, crocs
- Smooth city sneakers
- New white shoes you love 😄
Clothing: expect it to get dirty
The paint from the balls is water-washable and comes out of clothes — but you will spend the day in the forest: mud, grass, kneeling, crawling. Bring things you will not mind getting dirty.
Best: layering. Thinner layers work better than one thick one — a hit through several layers stings less, and you can add or remove a layer depending on the weather.
✓ Proven
- Older jeans or sweatpants (long!)
- Long-sleeve shirt + hoodie
- A thin jacket on top (spring/autumn)
- A spare shirt for the way home
✕ Bad idea
- Shorts and short sleeves (a hit on bare skin stings more + scratches from the forest)
- Favourite / expensive clothes
- White items (they will be brown, not white 😄)
Glasses: sort it out BEFORE you arrive
The protective mask must sit tight on your face — it is your only mandatory protection and you do not play without it. And here is the catch: large prescription glasses fit poorly under the mask, press on your temples and, above all, fog up.
Solutions, by reliability:
✓ Best solution
- Contact lenses — by far the most comfortable option, daily ones cost a few crowns
- Smaller/narrower spare glasses that fit under the mask
- Older glasses you can spare (in case they get scratched)
✕ Do not rely on
- Large fashion frames
- "It will somehow work out" — it will not, it fogs up
- Playing without correction when you can not see without glasses 😄
Water and small stuff: the things people forget
Paintball is physical — you run, crouch, adrenaline is pumping. Even on a cold day you sweat more than you expect. There is no supermarket at the field, so plan ahead:
✓ Useful
- A big water bottle (at least 1.5 l per person)
- A snack / something to eat
- A towel and a spare shirt
- A plastic bag for dirty things
- Good mood and your crew 🎯
✕ Leave in the car
- Jewellery, watches, chains
- Phone in your pocket during the game (a hit = cracked screen)
- Valuables in general
📋 Checklist before you leave
Go through it the night before — in the morning just pack and go.
- Sturdy shoes — ankle / trekking, no barefoot
- Long trousers and sleeves — older items that can get dirty
- Layers for the weather — thin layers > one thick one
- Contacts or smaller glasses — if you wear prescription
- Water 1.5 l+ — and something to eat
- Spare shirt + towel — for the way home
- Plastic bag — for dirty clothes
- Cash — payment on site is in cash
